The 2010 season will see oneof the most dynamic brands in gardening once again raise the bar in lawncare performance. Aftercut, Westland Horticulture’s leading lawncare brand, has an improved patented formulation in the form of a dual layered fertiliser, which delivers improved greening and increased tillering for a stronger, thicker lawn. New Aftercut also reduces overall lawn maintenance, as re-growth also dramatically decreases. Put simply, the best has just got better.
Danielle McBride, products manager for the lawncare category at Westland, explains: “For the 2010 season we have gone a step further and not only have we re-vamped the communication, the formulation has been enhanced.
“There are over 15 million lawn owners out there and by offering a product that hits so many gardening demands; reduced lawn maintenance, a tougher healthier lawn, visibly greener grass in days, thicker denser lawn that helps suppress weeds and moss, it is time to take the brand loyalty target to the next level.”
To ensure that they reach this goal Westland has invested over £1 million in television advertising so next year homeowners will learn about the key benefits of new Aftercut before they enter the garden centre.
New Lawn Seed
2010 also sees the launch of the revolutionary new Surestart lawn seed range, providing a unique formulation and coating technology that guarantees high performance, while also offering clear and simple grass types.
“Selecting the best lawn seed for a specific task can be very confusing for the consumer. The Surestart range makes selection very simple by concentrating on six key lawn requirements from tough, to fine closely-knit turf. The range also features an extra fast germination seed, one for shady conditions, a multi-purpose pack, and our fastest ever repair kit, consisting of a special mix of Surestart coated seed and feed,” adds Danielle.
What makes Surestart so different, compared to other leading brands, is the micro-nutrient coating placed on every seed.
This provides:
- Organic compounds to attract moisture, helping to reduce seedling stress and optimise plant development.
- Plant hormones to stimulate growth.
- Coating to buffer seed against stress from weather, disease and end use.

Surestart has a RRP starting from £4.99 covering 10m2, to cover 30m2 costs £8.99 and the hand held spreader that also covers 30m2 costs £9.99. Both ranges can be purchased from selected garden centres from January 2010.
