Papua New Guinea is home to the world’s third largest rainforest, an area of 8.7 million hectares.  It covers approximately 65% of the country and is under serious threat from logging operations.

The Government of Papua New Guinea has recognised that the only way to reduce legal and illegal logging of the rainforest is to provide an alternative source of income for people for whom selling logging rights is the main source of income.
