Is it an aphid? Is it a slug? No – It’s Westland with their New Plant Rescue state of the art diagnostic service.

From February, worried gardeners across the UK will have an exciting new way to solve their garden dilemmas. Trustworthy advice on how to restore unhealthy plants back to life will just be a simple text message or mouse click away.

Consumer insight shows that many gardeners struggle when it comes to identifying the nuisances damaging their plants let alone how to treat or prevent them! To help, Westland has set up a unique diagnostic service which will provide users with simple and speedy guidance from plant and bug experts.

All gardening enthusiasts can take advantage of the service by either uploading a picture of their ailing plant to Westland via www.gardenhealth.com/plantrescue or by sending a text.

The service has been implemented to support Westland’s popular new Plant Rescue range[1], the ‘one stop shop’ for treatment and prevention of pest problems affecting garden and ornamental plants, fruit and vegetables. It’s another example of the ‘Delivering Garden Health’ promise.

Gardeners can seek advice by sending a picture via MMS[2] to 60300 starting their message with the word ‘RESCUE’ and then a brief description of the problem and their postcode or by uploading a picture via the special web form at www.gardenhealth.com/plantrescue.

“By following these simple steps, gardeners can be reassured they are providing the best growing care possible for their plants. A diagnostic service of this nature is a real first for the industry and will help make uncertainty and confusion surrounding plant pests and diseases a thing of the past,” says Westland Horticulture’s Naomi Jenkins, product manager for the controls category.

Trained experts from Westland will aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours. Not only will the problem be diagnosed, clear instructions will be sent to explain how to treat it and the nearest stockist for any product recommended will be provided[3].

Full terms and conditions of use can be found at www.gardenhealth.com/plant rescue.

Ends

[1]Available from local garden centres all Plant Rescue products come in 750ml ready to use sprays with a RRP of £4.99, as well as 2 X 100ml twin pack concentrate versions with a RRP of £7.99.

The Plant Rescue Concentrate has been designed to educate consumers about the benefits of ‘action to prevent’. By providing gardeners with two bottles, one to treat the immediate problem and one to begin a regular prevention programme, their plants are getting the best possible treatment.

2This will cost the same as a standard picture message according to the users contract/network provider, this is NOT a premium rate & Westland will not profit from this.

3When a Westland product cannot be recommended ‘best practice’ advice will be provided on how to prevent pests in the future or natural ways to control them, alternatively a generic active ingredient that they can look for to treat the problem will be offered.
