How well do you know your weeds? The answer is probably not as well as you would like so in a bid to help spot these pests Westland Horticulture’s Resolva 24H is launching the first ever National Weed Control Week to make gardeners more aware. 

The week, which runs from 11th to the 17th May, is a good opportunity to get out into the garden and seek out problem weeds such as the dandelion, Rosebay Willowherb, common thistle, common couch and broad-leaved dock before they take a hold.

To help you cut a swathe through the weed jungle, Resolva 24H offers some timely top tips on weed control.

A weed is defined as a plant that grows where it is not wanted.

Because weeds grow extremely quickly they need to be removed when they are seedlings so as to prevent them taking up vital nutrition and water from the soil.

However, don’t worry if you don’t catch them early because once weeds have been identified you can use Resolva 24H to tackle the problem. This weed killer is different to other products on the market because of its unique mix of ingredients, Diquat and Glyphosate, which ensures that Resolva 24H will kill the entire plant, roots and all. And no more root means no more weed!

Learn to differentiate between annual and perennial weeds – a perennial weed returns year after year if not properly controlled. Both annual and perennial weeds can be treated but remember afterwards leave the weeds for at least seven days before attempting to cultivate the ground. Do not spray required plants or lawn areas containing weeds as Resolva 24H will kill the grass too!
